The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) was launched on 7 September 1980 to signify Malaysia’s commitment to South-South Cooperation – in particular Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries (TCDC). In line with the spirit of South-South Cooperation, Malaysia, through the MTCP, shares its development experiences and expertise with other developing countries.

The programme forms part of the Malaysian Government’s commitment towards promoting technical cooperation among developing countries, strengthening of regional and sub-regional cooperation, as well as nurturing collective self-reliance among developing countries. The MTCP emphasises the development of human resources through the provision of training courses in various areas deemed essential for a country’s development.

Islamic Tourism Centre is constantly and continuously working with major industry players – including government officials and policy makers – to enhance Malaysia’s Islamic travel and tourism industry. The centre believes that the effective representation and management of tourism within governments can only be achieved through capacity building at institutional level. As part of its capacity-building initiatives, ITC collaborates with MTCP in providing training courses on an annual basis under the MTCP from the year 2009.

The upcoming MTCP short training course coordinated by ITC will take place from 10 until 23 May 2015. Participants will have the opportunity to attend lectures by distinguished figures from the Malaysian tourism industry and to visit the places of interest in the states of Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur related to the theme,“Marketing and Promotion of Islamic Tourism Destination”.
